Thursday, 8 November 2018 marked the arrival of Sarah Baker Perfumes‘ debut in Europe’s pocket-sized fashion capital Antwerp at Labels Inc. It was also the launch of these unique, niche fragrances on mainland Europe with a feel-good drink reception hosted by the indomitable Erna Vandekerckhove.
These exclusive, small-batch fragrances in the grand tradition of the best perfumery—but with a contemporary “gender optional” twist—will be available at Labels Inc. up until Christmas 2018.
One of the highlights of the launch was a special image created by Sarah Baker for the launch occupying Labels Inc.’s high-footfall window on Antwerp’s Nationalestraat that references the tradition of 17th-century Flemish still life paintings. It literally caused chic shoppers in the fashion district to stop and stare.
In 2016, Baker launched her first two fragrances at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles: Leopard, and Greek Keys, made by perfumer Ashley Eden Kessler. And the Motif Collection was born. Later that year, Baker launched two new scents at an immersive installation at Luton’s Storefront Gallery: Lace, and Tartan, made by nose Sarah McCartney.
Each of the four gender-optional fragrances in the Motif Collection are inspired by a classic high-fashion fabric or textile style.
